Creating Happiness, by Design

Creating Happiness, by Design at The Breakroom

“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.” –Dieter F. Uchtodorf

Think back to when you were little: What did you love to create? How did you make your magic? Sadly, when we get bigger and older we also can get more stuck and staid. In other words, maybe it’s time to revisit the things that made your heart sing.

It’s long been a trend to go to coffee shops and go to work—but what about working on a different plane: crafts, screenplays, drawings, music? There’s something about being in the middle of a place that’s fully alive to stir up your soul and call out your creativity.

And don’t let that serious-minded grownup inside you talk you out of what could be a fun and restorative time. Here at The Breakroom, we welcome creatives of all types…and we’ll let nothing get in the way of such magical productivity.

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” –Albert Einstein

Innovative activities are far from brainless; in fact, this American Psychological Association piece suggests there’s quite a bit happening up in our noggins as we express—and maximize—our creative output. So why not achieve that in a beautiful and inspiring setting like The Breakroom, with others who are doing the same?

“…of all human activities, creativity comes closest to providing the fulfillment we all hope to get in our lives.”1[1] –Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

Verywell Mind’s “10 Signs of a Creative Person” posits that such fulfillment comes from—surprisingly—a number of human opposites. The creative mind is both energetic and focused, playful and disciplined, realistic and imaginative. That’s why The Breakroom strives to offer a little something for everyone; when creativity is woven into all areas of your life—work, relationships, creativity, and responsibility—you become a more well-rounded, more peace-filled whole.

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” –Maya Angelou

Blogger Holley Gerth penned the following wise words to give hope to us all (especially Those Of A Certain Age):

Creativity literally changes us. Scientists used to think after a certain age our brains were set. But being creative actually makes new neurological pathways in our minds. It’s never too late to grow…. Creativity isn’t just picking up a paintbrush. It’s essentially anything we do that gets us outside of our comfort zones. Anything we do that brings life into this world.

We’ve aimed to make The Breakroom (NW11th & Newport Ave.) a place for creativity and connection to happen. So bring your life into our world…and we’ll return the favor, bringing your world to life via our colorful, innovative, and inspiring setting.
